Our story
Lakeside Scoop House is Nora Klein's love letter to slow desserts and small-town afternoons.
Nora trained in pastry kitchens in Vancouver and Victoria before moving to Nelson in 2019. She missed the rhythm of a proper gelato case — the daily churn, the chalkboard updates, the kid pressed against the glass trying to choose.
She found a narrow storefront on Baker Street with tall windows and worn tile floors. After six months of renovation — mint paint, brass fixtures, a refurbished 1960s display case — Lakeside Scoop House opened in spring 2021.
How we make gelato
Every batch starts with Kootenay dairy and organic cane sugar. Fruit comes from BC growers when in season; we freeze at peak ripeness for winter flavors. Nora churns in small quantities so nothing sits more than a few days.
We don't serve alcohol — never have, never will. This is a place for after-school cones, first dates over shared sundaes, and grandparents treating the whole table.
